$288,000 'investment gone wrong'

"An expensive $288,000 mistake.

That is Singapore Athletic Association president Loh Lin Kok's damning assessment of missing thrower Dong Enxin.

Four months after leaving Singapore for his native China without permission, the SAA has all but given up on the thrower, who also missed last December's South-east Asia Games.

Yesterday, Loh thundered: 'I'll be frank. I admit that he's an investment gone wrong.

The 'Foreign Sports Talent' program is one of the most useless and money wasting program that this country ever embarked upon. The money would better be used for the needy and perhaps we might even be able to shave off .5% off the GST burden we are required to bear.

Butt but.. they bring honour to the country wor...

what honor? lol

It's not like the needy gets $1 more a day when they win a gold medal, or that we can pay 1% less GST.

Whatever glory and honor is at that moment where the flag is raised and the anthem is sung. It will soon be forgotten the moment the games are over.

LOL. I don't pay that much tax, actually. I just don't find it reasonable for me to be even paying the extra 2% of GST, when I see some of these money being spent somewhat... ridiculously.
